Pete played with a handful of bands before joining Official Secrets (now Dupe) in 1984. At school he was in a band called Fusion with Pete Ludlow and Pete Goldsmith. Pete and Dave knew each other from school and before Pete joined, he and Dave entertained themselves by making home recordings of 60s songs using an old four-track reel-to-reel.
Paul Smith
Drums
Paul was the last to join Official Secrets (now Dupe) in early 1985. He had known Brian from his heavy metal days with a band called Renegade, who were on the same gigging circuit as Raw Deal.
Dave Griffiths
Keyboards and Backing Vocals
Dave joined Official Secrets (now Dupe) in November 1983 having been in a number of unsuccessful bands previously including the appallingly named Steel Talon. A classically trained musician, Dave still leads the viola section in Bromley Symphony Orchestra.
He failed his Grade 7 piano partly due to writing a different ending for a Mozart sonata, which the examiner didn’t like!
Brian Smith
Lead/Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals
Brian was one of the founder members of Official Secrets (now Dupe), forming the Band in November 1983. Originally a guitarist, he moved to bass guitar whilst in the Heavy Metal band, Raw Deal who had some success in the late 70s, early 1980s.
He returned to the guitar to form Official Secrets and now handles all the guitar in the band.
